The Richard Dawkins foundation raised over 1 million (probably 2 by now) to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake. The two biggest Philanthropists in this world, Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are both Atheists and none of them gave money because they expected to be rewarded by a god but rather because they want to truly help their fellow humans. Christians only open missionaries to gain supporters rather than helping the poor. Religious teachings and passed abuse through religious groups are usually the reason for suffering. That throne is not the only thing the pope owns and the Vatican is worth 2 000 000 000 Dollars. The church has, according to you spent more money on building a house for one of their bishops (in Limburg) than in 6 years on feeding the poor. While you might say that you are referring to the everyday atheist rather than these "exceptions", take a look at yourself and think about how much of the money you gave to your church is really going to end up helping the hungry.

Most atheist "charities" are also part of the campaign to censor and harass religious people for exercising their right to religious expression. There's not a single atheist charity dedicated to helping people or a single atheist hospital or homeless shelter.
